Code of Ethics

Match My Profit is one person running buyer-grade diligence for founders. There is no compliance department behind the practice, which is exactly why the rules are written down where clients can read them.

This code is benchmarked against internationally recognised standards of professional conduct in finance and adapted to the conflicts a sell-side advisor actually faces. It binds everything published on this site and every engagement, from the free assessment to a mandate.

01The client’s interest comes before the fee

An advisor paid on completion is tempted to close at any price. I advise the path that serves the owner, including waiting a year, including not selling at all, even when that advice costs me the engagement. Declining a premature mandate is part of the service.

02No score is for sale

Scores follow the published method wherever it leads. No verdict gets softened because it is uncomfortable, and no client gets a kinder read than the method allows, whatever the fee.

03I claim only what is true

I do not misstate what I have done, what I know or what I am qualified for. Figures are real, and each carries its period and its source. Where something is an estimate, it is labelled as one.

04Every verdict has a checkable basis

Every conclusion rests on analysis documented well enough that someone else could check it. Teardowns use public information only and say so. When the facts change, the verdict changes.

05What you share stays here

What an owner shares with me is disclosed only with consent or where the law requires it. It is never passed to another client and never recycled as content without permission.

06Conflicts are disclosed before they matter

Fees are agreed in writing before work begins. If I hold any interest in an outcome, a referral arrangement or a relationship with a potential buyer, the client hears it from me before the engagement, not after.

07Inside information stays inside

Information learned inside an engagement serves that engagement and nothing else. I do not trade on it and I do not pass it on.

08Every client gets the method at full strength

The smallest engagement gets the same rigour as the largest. Advice fits the owner’s actual business and timeline rather than a template, and I do not take on work the method does not fit.

09I know the edges of my competence

Markets reprice and rules change, and the method is maintained against both. When a question belongs to a lawyer, a tax advisor or an auditor, I say so and bring one in rather than improvising.

10Mistakes get corrected in the open

A published analysis that proves wrong is corrected visibly rather than quietly deleted. Verdicts here are written to be checkable, and checkable only means something if corrections are public.

If anything on this site or in an engagement falls short of this code, write to [email protected]. Every message lands with me.
